It is the owners’ goal to employ and develop only the best of employees.Description and Responsibilities : Reporting to Company Officers, the General Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating construction activities on-site to ensure that all projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with the required specifications. The General Foreman will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and labor crews to maintain efficient workflows and high standards of quality. This role oversees In-house crews performing various types of work, including : Concrete work (walls, slabs, and footers) and concrete construction.Trenching and excavation work for the installation of civil structures, concrete construction, utility installation, and other general construction.Heavy equipment operation for excavation, material handling, and site grading to include excavators and other earth moving equipment, rollers, compactors, arial equipment, forklifts, cranes, and heavy trucks.Steel construction, demolition, and modification, including hot work.Essential functions include but are not limited to : Oversee and manage all aspects of various construction projects, from start to finish, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, crew members, and project stakeholders.Review Foreman records of daily time entry, daily work activities, and materials used for accuracy.Helps enforce company policies, procedures, and industry standards to ensure a productive and positive working environmentLead and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors, by providing guidance and ensuring that work is executed in accordance with the project’s design and quality standards.Develop and implement daily work schedules, adjusting timelines as necessary to meet project deadlines.Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including conducting safety meetings and inspections to minimize risks on-site.Monitor and manage project progress, identifying potential issues and delays early, and taking corrective action as needed.Conduct regular inspections of work, materials, and equipment to ensure quality control and compliance with project specifications.Ensure proper documentation of inspections, safety audits, and corrective action.Train and mentor site personnel, fostering a productive and collaborative team environment.Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback for crew members.Job requirements and qualifications : Previous experience as a General Foreman or Superintendent and extensive applicable knowledge in the field of work required.Extensive knowledge in various trades such as concrete, trenching and excavating, and lifting and handling.Ability to read and comprehend engineered sketches and drawings.Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.Enthusiastic, professional, and positive attitude.Strong work ethic.Ability to stand for long periods.Ability to work long hours.Ability to pass a background check.Ability to work outdoors and indoors in various environments and weather conditions.Ability to work in loud environments.Must have a valid Driver’s License and ability to operate company vehicles.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Previous experience working in Shipyard environments a plus.What we offer : Competitive payPaid time offPaid holidaysAnnual performance bonusHealth, vision, dental, long-term & short-term disability, and life benefits401k & Profit SharingEducation assistance reimbursement for eligible degrees / certificationsEmployee referral compensationCareer development opportunitiesMust have a clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass a background check.Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer, including disability / vets.
