Performs patient examinations and related activities in accordance with established protocols. Demonstrates knowledge of the digital environment, reviews images prior to sending and archiving to PACS, and submits them to radiologists for interpretation. Maintains patient records and assures the correct patient is being imaged by checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing the examination. Completes associated documentation and performs QA / QC on equipment as needed.
Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IVs and / or administers contrast as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques, and provides a clean environment within the examination area. Provides student technologists with basic procedural concepts within the responsible modality and shares emergency calls as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his / her age-specific needs and provides the necessary care.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Reports to the assigned Radiology Supervisor.
Education / Skills
Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required.
Work Experience
One year experience in diagnostic radiology preferred. One year experience in CT Imaging preferred.
