Position Overview
A large, well-established local agency is seeking a Facility Assistant to support the maintenance and operations of multiple buildings and associated assets. This role is ideal for a hands-on, service-oriented professional with broad skills in general maintenance , light construction , and facility operations . The Facility Assistant will work closely with the facilities team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of agency properties, vehicles, and equipment.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Building & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on agency facilities, including light carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks.
- Assist with HVAC system maintenance , basic troubleshooting, and coordination of repairs.
- Support small construction projects , renovations, and workspace modifications as directed.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems to identify issues and recommend solutions.
Operations & Scheduling
Help coordinate work orders, service requests, and preventative maintenance schedules .Work with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely completion of repairs and projects.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, schedules, and inventory of tools and supplies.Customer Service & Coordination
Serve as a point of contact for staff, vendors, and contractors to address facility-related needs.Provide excellent customer service when handling inquiries or resolving issues.Support fleet management operations, including scheduling maintenance for agency vehicles, tracking mileage, and coordinating with service providers.Safety & Compliance
Follow and promote agency policies and procedures related to safety, security, and environmental standards .Report potential hazards or equipment failures promptly to management.Qualifications & Skills
2–5 years of experience in facility maintenance, construction, or building operations preferred.Working knowledge of light carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems.Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, building plans, and work orders.Strong organizational and scheduling skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.Good interpersonal and customer service abilities; able to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and contractors.Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or work order management software a plus.Valid driver’s license required; ability to support fleet management operations.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks related to maintenance and repairs.Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.Compensation & Benefits
