Radiation Therapist
DEFINITION / PRIMARY FUNCTION
Administers radiation treatments, simulations, dosimetry functions, and fabricates blocks in preparation for treatment. Requires initiative and independent judgment. Proper care of the client in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures is required. Performs radiation therapy treatments as required in either a scheduled or emergent environment under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist. Updates procedure manuals as needed. Manages daily treatment schedule of all assignments on the clinical equipment. Observes and demonstrates familiarity with all safety features in each clinical area. Works closely with reception, Nursing, and physician components in the provision of patient care.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience :
Minimum active exposure in approved program for Radiation Therapy.
Education and Training :
Must have completed formal training from a JRCERT accrediated radiation therapy program.
License, Certification & Registration :
MALIC - Massachusetts Radiology License
CPR - CPR Required.
ARRT(T) - Radiation Therapy.
Other Requirements :
Ability to function independently and proficiently in a high stress, work intensive
environment.
Attendance at all mandatory education is required.
