Job Title : Clinical Nurse Specialist - CVICU

Location : Santa Clara, CA

Onsite, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Salary : $180,000 - $200,000 per year

Job Summary :

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - CVICU provides advanced clinical expertise in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This role involves setting high standards for nursing practice, educating staff, consulting on complex cases, and contributing to the development of our CVICU's goal of becoming a heart transplant center. The CNS will also play a vital role in designing and implementing evidence-based care and training programs, improving patient outcomes, and supporting nursing staff development.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Establish and monitor care standards in the CVICU, making recommendations to enhance clinical practice.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to assess patient and family needs, and develop comprehensive care plans for complex, high-risk patients.
  • Create and deliver education programs for patients, families, and staff to enhance knowledge and skills; assist in program implementation.
  • Provide consultation to healthcare team members to address the needs of individuals or patient groups in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives, collect and analyze data on patient outcomes, and identify trends.
  • Access KP Health Connect to evaluate care quality and manage clinical operations, ensuring appropriate documentation and discharge planning.

Required Qualifications :

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist Certificate required
  • Registered Nurse License required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical specialty area with specific experience in CVICU
  • Proven experience in training staff and conducting nursing orientation in a clinical setting
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree
  • ACLS or PALS certification is a plus
  • Previous Clinical Nurse Specialist experience preferred
