Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer will perform all phases of electrical-related projects from conception through start-up and delivery, including electrical system model development and evaluation, specification of electrical distribution equipment, development of construction package drawings, serve as a point of contact with client personnel and support startup and commission efforts. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the development of control systems and be able to support in-house I&C engineering efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop complete electrical drawing packages as part of construction packages
- Develop electrical drawings and documents that include one-line drawings, power plans, hazard classification maps, cable routing (cable tray / raceways), cable & conduit schedules, grounding and lighting plans (including photometric studies)
- Specify and select electrical distribution equipment (Switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPSs)
- Develops technical, scope, and cost aspects of proposals
- Provide General Electrical Engineering
- Perform SKM calculations
- Direct quality checking for all deliverables
- Ability to prioritize tasks by frequency and importance
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments
- Attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering5 to 20+ years of demonstrated Electrical Engineering experience in a multi-discipline environment in the energy, chemical, and / or oil and gas industriesProfessional Engineer License preferred - may consider EIT who can obtain PE in one yearDemonstrated experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer, supervising other Electrical Engineers, and mentoring younger Electrical EngineersRequired knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industry design standardsFamiliarity with electrical-related software such as SKM or ETAPIncreasing ability to perform electrical system-related calculations such as short circuit analysis, arc flash evaluation and development of arc flash remediation strategiesLow to high voltage familiarity (480VAC to 25Kv)Non-Technical Skills
Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate a large project or several small projectsSupervise the work of others, both engineers and designersFunctions as Project Engineer and Project Leader on single discipline projectsInterfaces directly with the client's representative as necessaryField survey work required in heavy industrial environmentsCertifies designs and drawings as appropriateMaintains project schedules, develops designs, and reviews drawings, specifications and calculationsRequires little to no supervisionCan assist in the development of the technical scope of work specificationsTravel up to 10% of the time - Local day trips / client visits (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland)Employment type
