Accounting Manager
The City of Fate, Texas, is seeking an experienced municipal accounting professional to serve as our next Accounting Manager. This position is a key part of the Finance team, providing financial stewardship for one of the fastest-growing communities in the country.

Job duties include :
Ensures accuracy of general ledger accounts by reviewing monthly statements and overseeing the preparation of the monthly financial report and explanation of significant variances.Processes journal entries and coordinates month-end and year-end closings.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of GASB pronouncements and ensures compliance with applicable standards.Monitors compliance with internal control policies and procedures and recommends changes as needed to maintain financial integrity.Supports the Director of Finance on special projects and the annual audit including but not limited to the preparation of lead schedules and documentation for external auditors. Ensures audit readiness and maintains documentation to support financial transactions and reporting.Assist in compiling the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report in accordance with GAAP and city policies.Coordinates the preparation of the City's Annual Operating and CIP budget. Develops schedules, forms and budget calendar for budget preparation. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of state and local laws related to municipal budget and property taxes.Assists departments by providing adequate data and guidance to complete their budgets.Prepares the budget document and submits application to the GFOA for the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.Oversees accounts payable run, daily bank deposits, and monitors adherence to cash handling procedures.Provides backup support for payroll processing.Assists with the administration and maintenance of financial software systemsPrepares, updates, and co-ordinates the Standard Operating Procedures for the City's accounting function.Monitor grants and asset seizures awarded to the city, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.Reviews expenditures of departments for budget complianceSupervises employees, including assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance reviews, training employees, and making recommendations regarding hiring, promoting, disciplining, and / or dismissing employees.Responds to departmental inquiries and provide research and problem-solving support.Prepares a variety of reports for supervisor and City Management as required.Assists with supervision of Customer Service Department and Municipal Court as required.Represents the Finance Director at meetings as needed.Attends City Council meetings as required.Performs other duties as assignedMinimum qualifications include :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related field.Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting with at least two (2) years of governmental accounting experience.Possession of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) preferred.Experience with Incode 10 financial software preferred.Possession of a valid Texas driver's license.A combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
