Responsibilities Work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) focusing on ventricular assist device (VAD) patients Coordinates the monitoring and care of patients with VADs during procedures and operations Day shift schedule from 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, Monday through Friday Includes weeknight call from 5 : 00 pm to 8 : 00 am and weekend call from Friday 5 : 00 pm through Monday 7 : 00 am Call is remote unless on-site response is medically necessary Responsible for collaborating with materials management and equipment technicians to maintain VAD inventory and compliance with FDA recalls VAD call responsibilities include sitting procedures and patient education Mandatory completion of required modules prior to start and possibly during orientation Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius to qualify for travel pay rates Returning staff must have a minimum one-year break from prior Medstar employment Holiday and weekend coverage may be required per call schedule No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, with no time off in the first two weeks Requirements Current DC RN license required or proof of pending DC license status at time of consideration, with license in hand before start Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Experience in CVICU nursing with proficiency in VAD care and management VAD Certification preferred within 18 months of hire Ability to educate VAD patients in accordance with regulatory standards Two supervisor references required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-618681.
