Cardiac Sonographer

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing all diagnostic echocardiography procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician’s order in patient’s chart. As a member of the care team, the Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care.

• Performs Adult Echocardiograms and Stress Echo Tests.
• Maintains and develops own professional competency.
• Participates in cross-training program for Cardiology.
• Schedules daily in-patients and out-patients for ECHO’s, EKG's, Stress Tests
• Assists in patient education.
• Maintains all appropriate equipment and machinery within the department reporting any abnormalities to the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services.
• Prepares, copies and files all appropriate tests and other reports in accordance with policies and procedures
• Qualifications :
• Education

Required : Graduate of Allied Health Degree Program or Completion of an AMA Echocardiography Program

Preferred :

Required : 1-3 years as a Cardiac Sonographer.

Able to perform Adult Echo’s and Stress Echo Tests

Preferred : Able to perform contrast and agitated saline Echo exams : EKG’s, Stress tests and Holter Monitors

Required : Registry eligible or Current Registry in Adult Echocardiography, ARDMS RDCS

NH State Medical Imaging License

Maintain CPR / BLS Certification
