Position Summary :
GTI Energy is seeking a dedicated Quality Weld Inspector for Second Shift to ensure welded components meet internal and external quality standards. This role plays a key part in verifying weld quality through visual and non-destructive inspections and supports GTI’s commitment to precision and compliance across all welded assemblies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welded parts, assemblies, and structures per GTI, AWS, and ASME standards.
- Evaluate and verify weld quality using weld gauges, blueprints, and measurement tools.
- Interpret welding symbols, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Identify and document nonconforming welds and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Support welder qualification testing and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Communicate quality concerns to welders and production leadership in real time.
- Accurately document findings and enter inspection data into quality databases and forms.
- Ensure all inspections and records comply with company policies and customer requirements.
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to GTI Energy safety standards.
Qualifications : - Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of welding inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and other applicable codes.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand welding symbols.
- Must be able to work second shift hours consistently.
- Preferred :
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- NDT Level I or II certification in PT, MT, or UT.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or contract manufacturing.
Skills and Competencies :
Detail-oriented with strong visual acuity and judgment.Effective communicator who can collaborate with welders, engineers, and production staff.Strong documentation and computer skills (Microsoft Office, quality systems).Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on second shift.Working Conditions :
Manufacturing environment with exposure to welding operations, noise, and PPE requirements.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand / walk for prolonged periods.May require occasional overtime or weekend work.2nd Shift
