Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in classroom settings by facilitating communication through American Sign Language (ASL) under the direction of instructional staff. This substitute position requires strong language fluency, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a school-based setting where needs may vary from day to day.
Preferred Qualifications :
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Prior experience supporting DHH students in academic settings
Familiarity with IEPs and educational accommodations
Ability to interpret or transliterate between spoken English and ASL
Comfortable working with students of varying age groups
Responsibilities :
Support student communication using ASL in classroom and school activities
Assist instructional staff with academic, behavioral, or functional support
Interpret instructions and classroom discussions as needed
Foster inclusion and engagement of DHH students in learning environments
Follow direction from certified staff and document support provided
