Job Summary : The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential personal care, emotional support, and behavioral assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role is crucial in helping individuals achieve personal goals, independence, and integration into the community, ensuring a safe, supportive, and engaging living environment. This shift is from 1 : 00PM - 9 : 00PM 7-days a week so a part time shift is also available, must have an active CNA license.
Responsibilities :
- Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, according to individual care plans.
- Administer or assist with medication administration following established protocols and documentation procedures.
- Implement and document behavioral support plans and training programs designed to enhance social skills, adaptive behavior, and community living skills.
- Accompany individuals to appointments, recreational activities, and community outings, advocating for their inclusion and rights.
- Assist with household tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
- Accurately maintain detailed daily logs, incident reports, and other documentation required for regulatory compliance and continuity of care.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, family members, and medical professionals regarding the individual's progress and needs.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals served at all times, responding promptly to emergencies.
Qualifications :
CNA Certified Nursing AssistantHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred.Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the rights and dignity of all individuals.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
