Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for the procurement and optimal pricing of medical supplies, drugs, medical equipment, and other operating supplies for The Villages Health. Track metrics and KPIs relating to drug and medical supplies inventory, PPE inventory, vendor spend, cost savings and other healthcare industry purchasing metrics.
Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to :
Responsible for procuring medical supplies, drugs, medical equipment, and other supplies on behalf of The Villages Health (TVH.)Manage Purchasing Coordinator and Central Supply Coordinator(s) day to day activities and ensure efficiency and productivity.Perform annual evaluation of Purchasing Coordinator and Central Supply Coordinator(s) with input from Accounting Manager and others.Monitor Flex Scan software which is TVH’s medical supplies and drug inventory system.Track metrics and KPIs relating to purchasing and inventory activities.Assist with facility needs regarding movement of equipment and furniture.Analytical skills to analyze price proposals and other information to determine best pricing options.Negotiates with vendors, including obtaining competitive bids when appropriate, and evaluates the information to obtain the best pricing possible.Assists in negotiating purchase contracts and obtains proper executive approval when appropriate.Works with the appropriate Group Purchasing Organization to ensure TVH receives the best pricing and terms.Ensure the consistency of all contracts for the various TVH facilities.Monitors contracts to ensure vendors comply with the contracts’ terms and conditions.Verifies purchase requests by comparing items to master lists; clarifying unclear items; and recommending alternatives.Monitor monthly care center inventory counts and maintain appropriate records.Meets with TVH staff and vendors to resolve issues with defective or unacceptable goods and services.Maintains adequate records of purchases, costs, product performance, etc., and distributes, as appropriate, to various TVH team members. This requirement includes the tracking of annual flu vaccine purchases.Works with various suppliers, primarily pharmaceutical, to ensure TVH data is current and properly configured so that appropriate TVH team members can place orders.Reviews historical purchasing spend data to identify cost savings opportunities.Requires a familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.Education / Experience Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.At least, two to five years of purchasing experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook.Ability to collaborate and communicate with TVH team members and vendors.Salary is commensurate with experience.
