Sales Consultant – Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, NY
Job Summary
This position drives a sales plan assigned by the Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG). The individual maximizes sales profitability and account penetration in an assigned territory by selling the company’s products. The role promotes, sells and secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship approach. The individual demonstrates products and services to existing / potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
Responsibilities
- Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory to generate new business.
- Make in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
- Take customer orders with SG goals in mind, focusing on sales and profit / stop maximization.
- Coordinate and review orders with inside sales partners.
Respond promptly to customer problems and needs.>
Review daily out-of-stocks, shortages, transportation issues and implement quick solutions.daily and weekly sales and margin reports for improvement opportunities>
Stay informed of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities and market trends.Participate in SSMG training and customer events and sales meetings.Build relationships with accounts payable contacts at each account.Coordinate communication between accounts payable and SSMG account receivable manager / representative.Apply “Ask Early and Often” to control days sales outstanding (DSOs) and manage credit terms.Update bid files, customer profiles, and call sheets to ensure accurate pricing.Qualifications
School diploma required.Preferred : 4-year in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture / animal science or related studies.2-year prior food service and / or sales background strongly preferred.Deep expertise of meat and seafood category or restaurant / culinary background with a shown capacity to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.Consultative sales ability.Self‑motivated and accountable for time management without constant supervisor direction.Strong customer relationship skills and sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook.Decision‑Making Authority
