Stripe's Compensation Team plays a pivotal role in driving the company's people strategy. As strategic partners to the business, we strive to demystify compensation programs and processes, enabling Stripes to focus on their core responsibilities. We take pride in our ability to design and implement compensation offerings that not only attract top-tier talent but also foster long-term engagement and retention. Our work ensures that Stripe remains competitive in the global talent market, empowering the organization to build and maintain a world-class workforce dedicated to advancing Stripe's ambitious goals.

What you’ll do

The Head of Compensation Programs will lead a team of compensation experts who are responsible for building and designing innovative compensation programs. Ideally, this person thrives in a fast-paced environment and naturally operates with a strategic mentality and an orientation toward enablement. • Oversee all aspects of our annual compensation planning processes, including the development and completion of compensation cycle reviews and recommendations related to performance, incentives, promotions, and equity.
  • Partner and collaborate with teams like People Systems, People Analytics, Finance, and Legal on compensation philosophies, programs, policies and practices to bring them to life; and developing solutions for compensation-related issues.
  • Create new tools to deliver incredible experiences for our employees and to enable more data-driven decisions.
  • Manage market pricing activities including job matching, data analytics, and job pricing, including analysis of cash and long-term incentive compensation practices.

  • Excellent analytical and financial skills, including reduction in cost / risk and optimizing vendor structures / management.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future trends / consequences and build innovative approaches; bring a new perspective, but also have deep compensation experience in a customer-facing environment.
  • Success in crafting and articulating ideas and plans to both management and peers in the context of business priorities and needs.
  • Experience with Workday strongly preferred.
  • Authentic individual with outstanding integrity whose personal and professional values are consistent with our mission, vision, and leadership framework.
  • Self-motivated; takes initiative to do further analysis when deeper insights can be achieved.
  • This role is available either in an office or a remote location (35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team / business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $202,900 - $304,300. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions / sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include : equity, company bonus or sales commissions / bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.

    Office locations

Toronto, New York, South San Francisco HQ, Seattle, or Chicago

At Stripe, we're looking for people with passion, grit, and integrity. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns. At Stripe, we welcome diverse perspectives and people who think rigorously and aren't afraid to challenge assumptions. Join us.
