Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline : RN Duration : Ongoing 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days Employment Type : Staff Position : Charge Nurse (RN) – Med / Surg Telemetry Location : Hiram, Georgia Job Type : Full-Time Role Overview : Full-time Charge Registered Nurse (RN) working day shifts (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on a 28-bed Medical Telemetry unit at Wellstar Paulding hospital. Responsible for leading and overseeing daily unit operations during the shift ensuring safe, high-quality patient care. Leadership and Supervision : Directs the nursing staff by making patient assignments based on nurses' skills and patient needs. Supports and mentors nursing staff to help develop their skills. Coordinates with physicians, surgeons, and nurse managers on patient care and unit flow. Handles staffing schedules and adapts for shortages or census changes. Patient Care : Provides direct patient care when needed while managing overall unit duties. Regularly rounds on patients to evaluate care quality and address concerns. Focuses on patient safety, effective care planning, and communication with patients and families. Operational Responsibilities : Monitors and manages medical supplies, equipment, and resources. Participates in development and implementation of clinical protocols to enhance patient outcomes. Oversees unit patient flow, admissions, discharges, and bed assignments. Responds to emergencies and manages multi-area coverage. Collaboration and Communication : Facilitates teamwork and collaboration among interdisciplinary staff (nurses, doctors, care managers). Addresses any staff or patient concerns with nurse managers. Promotes a respectful, inclusive work environment. Professional Development & Compliance : Ensures that all staff complete mandatory education and maintain certifications. Acts as a preceptor or mentor for new nurses and other healthcare staff. Upholds nursing standards and practices in accordance with professional regulations and the WellStar care model. Required Education & Experience : Nursing degree (Associate or Bachelor preferred). Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Basic Life Support (BLS) mandatory; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Minimum one year of nursing experience; preferred two years as a relief charge nurse with clinical expertise.
