Responsibilities :

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop goals and objectives on an annual basis for the department.
  • Conducts periodic evaluations of department operations, including personnel, student activities, student organization procedures and use of resources.
  • Plans and coordinates educational and social activities with student organizations, campus faculty and staff, and community partners.
  • Assists student organization sponsors and officers in training members to develop social responsibility, citizenship and leadership.
  • Provides support, guidance and oversight to student clubs / organizations, including chartering processes, budgeting, event planning, and leadership transitions.
  • Conducts and participates in leadership training activities.
  • Supervises the annual student events (food drives, leadership training, workshops and elections).
  • Establishes and maintains current files on all activities of campus organizations.
  • Compiles information into monthly and yearly campus activity calendar and is responsible for keeping information current.
  • Develops and maintains the budget for the department and works in conjunction with student organizations in the development of activity budgets and their presentations to budget hearing committee.
  • Maintains a vibrant online presence for Student Life and promotes student life opportunities via email, social media, flyers, and other means of communication.
  • Supervises all operations of the Student Center, including the scheduling of rooms for students, faculty, and alumni and the community.
  • Attend training seminars or conferences to maintain competencies and stay current with the changing needs of the department on an annual basis.
  • Works with Student Government Association.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist student services as needed during registration and special events.
  • Serves on various campus committees.
  • Assists the Dean for Student Services in developing appropriate policies, as needed, consistent with policies and procedures related to student services and the college.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications :

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required. Must have valid Texas Drivers’ License.
  • Experience : Minimum two years of professional experience in student life, student engagement, or a similar role, preferrable in higher education.
  • KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.Knowledge of methods and procedures used in negotiating terms of entertainment and other contracts with outside agents and / or companies.Knowledge of personal computers and software including Zoom, social media platforms and student information systems.Ability to collaborate with, assist and advise students in the development of a well-rounded activities program.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, colleagues, faculty, college leadership and the public.Ability to work in an occasionally stressful situation.

    Physical Requirements : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonableaccommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The role involves intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. Occasionally, lifting of up to 25 lbs. might be necessary. The work is performed both in office settings and outdoor environments.
