Position Summary :
The RN Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nursing care and staff on assigned shifts to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to residents. This leadership role involves clinical supervision, direct patient care, coordination with other departments, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The RN Supervisor supports and enforces policies, trains and mentors staff, and serves as a clinical resource within the facility.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Supervision :
- Supervise LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff to ensure resident care meets standards and follows care plans.
- Act as the nurse-in-charge during assigned shifts, resolving clinical and staffing issues as needed.
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance, coaching, and support.
- Assist with new staff orientation and ongoing training and development.
- Conduct shift hand-off reports and ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with scheduling and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Clinical Oversight :
Perform and oversee comprehensive resident assessments and monitor for changes in condition.Administer and supervise administration of medications, treatments, and procedures.Communicate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident care.Ensure timely and accurate documentation in medical records.Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.Support residents and families in understanding care plans and addressing concerns.Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance :
Ensure nursing practices are in compliance with state and federal regulations, facility policies, and professional standards.Participate in audits, surveys, and quality improvement initiatives.Maintain infection control and safety protocols throughout the facility.Monitor and report incidents or changes in resident conditions per facility policy.Qualifications :
Current RN license in the state of employment, in good standingAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)Minimum 2 years of RN experience in long-term care or similar settingSupervisory or charge nurse experience requiredCurrent CPR / BLS certification (ACLS preferred, depending on facility)Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skillsProficient in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and clinical documentationKnowledge of nursing home regulations and resident rightsPhysical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbsFrequent standing, walking, and physical activity throughout the shiftAbility to respond quickly in emergencies and perform hands-on care when needed
