Job Summary

The Oncology Specialty pharmacist is responsible for directing and maintaining drug therapy across the continuum of care, providing focused monitoring in the areas of cancer therapy, supportive care / symptom management, pain management, assessment and oversight of medication adherence and procurement. #CS-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position

  • California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education certified school of pharmacy, or equivalent training
  • Completion of Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) training at an American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Accredited program, or 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Oncology Drugs, IV additive preparation & investigational drugs.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic and brand names, abbreviations, and drugs on current hospital formulary.
  • Ability to interpret and understand physicians' orders, pharmacy orders, and nursing records.
  • Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations, and knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law.
  • Ability to operate computer programs.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with all clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained and that a professional, respectful clinic / department environment exists at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • California Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP)
  • PGY2 Oncology Residency or a minimum of 3 years clinical oncology experience.
  • Previous Specialty Pharmacy or similar experience (e.g. MAP, treatment auth) is preferred.
  • Experience in quality improvement, project management, and / or professional service

    The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.

    The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.

    UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.     Shifts Rotating. Hours are variable. No smoking in work area. Abide by Departmental attendance standards. Special protective equipment must be used for required preparation of hazardous substances and spill cleanup. TB test and blood serum sample required annually.
