Position Overview : The Cardiac Device Registered Nurse at UVA Health University Medical Center plays a pivotal role in providing specialized care to patients with cardiac devices. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Cardiac Device RN will work closely with patients in both clinic and inpatient settings, providing personalized care, patient education, and support. This role also involves collaborating with a small team of nurses to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct assessments and provide specialized care to patients with cardiac devices.

Perform device interrogations, programming, and troubleshooting as needed.

Educate patients and their families about cardiac device management, including remote monitoring and lifestyle modifications.

Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.

Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and procedures.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Schedule And Benefits

Monday to Friday, 7 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM (no weekends, holidays, or nights).

Possibility of remote work one day per week after 1.5 years of employment.

Capable clinician with interest in technology and pacemakers / defibrilators, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. Consistently provides effective direct care, as part of the interdisciplinary team, to a variety of complex patients. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a refined skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the health care team. Seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Assumes a beginning leadership role but seeks mentoring in this process.

Minimum Requirements

Education : Graduate of accredited nursing program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience : 1 year of relevant experience. 2 years of cardiology experience preferred.

Licensure : Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking, bending / stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift / push / pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood / body fluids and infectious disease. EXP-Cardio-MM EXP-Nursing

This position qualifies for the UVA Medical Center Clinical Ladder.The salary range reflected in this job posting is for an RN Clinician 2. Additional compensation is available if you are hired into a higher level on the Clinical Ladder. Those hired as either a Clinician 3 or Clinician 4 must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and possess a specialty certification from a national certifying organization and meet applicable Career Ladder Behaviors. Placement on the clinical ladder will be discussed during the recruitment process. Current team members already working as RN Clinician 3 or 4 who wish to transfer to another department will have their level on the clinical ladder reviewed by the hiring manager and the PNSO if applicable.

Position Compensation Range : $42.69 - $56.71 Hourly
