The Enviromental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for all facets of Safety / Health / Security and regulatory compliance of employees, temporary workers, and contractors. The Safety Manager will act as a resource to the facility and other national and international sites. This person will also ensure compliance to all local, state, and federal laws.
Job Function Statements Essential Functions :
- Champion safety, health, security and environmental issues for fresh food processing and distribution.
- Standardize safety processes, safety policies, and reports.
- Develop new strategies to improve management education, accountability, coaching and support.
- Develop active and well-focused incentive programs that reward safe behavior and accident prevention without creating culture of entitlement.
- Help with capital justifications regarding compliance issues.
- Positioning safety in a broader context, integrating with food safety and quality.
- Approve safety engineering project upgrades.
- Help to instill and hold management accountability for safety and health issues within their department.
- Conduct mock OSHA inspections and serve as the regulatory liaison for both safety and environmental regulators.
- Drive and support environmental compliance throughout facility.
- Conduct management level training in safety and health.
- Manage overall workers compensation programs and requirements.
- Manage on-site Security responsibilities and requirements.
- Ensure that the exposure Control Plan in accordance with the Blood borne pathogen standard codified as 29 CFR 1910.1030 and with the first aid standard codified at 29 CFR 1910.151 is thoroughly followed.
- Support full compliance with overall Ammonia Program such as PSM, RMP
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Required Qualifications / Skills :
3-5 years of management and safety / health / security experienceBachelor of Science in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferredKnowledge of OSHA, DOT, and Environmental regulationsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to train associates at all levels of the organizationMust work well with others in a team atmosphereMust be able to understand and respond to a diverse populationMust have strong multi-tasking skillsMust be able to withstand frequent exposure to a cold / wet environmentProject management experience a plusFood industry experienceOther Information :
