Job description

Job Description : SUMMARY

Teaches a full range of skills andknowledge for the certificate program in medical coding. Prepares students topass the CPC examination.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

  • Presents facilitative, well prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCS coding, ICD-10 coding) and school policies
  • Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision-making

  • Ability to instruct through remote and in-person delivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and / or online using a Learning Management System)
  • Provides the student with timely information and feedback on his / her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework and projects
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of all College policies, and actively participate in their implementation and enforcement
  • Follows all retention policies of the College to ensure students are in attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING

  • Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor (CPC-I) with the AAPC
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Coding Specialist in the field
  • Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing key metrics
  • KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
