Job description

The Powertrain Controls engineer will work within a CentreofExcellence (CoE) belonging to the Product Release Center (PRC) - EnginePropulsion Controls and will contribute in the development of engine propulsionsystems for current and next-generationinternal combustion engine & hybridelectrified propulsion systemsforStellantisvehicles.

The idealcandidate,whomust bea strongteamplayer andwilling to work in a fast-pacedenvironment, will have an experience in developing controls strategies for start stop management, engine torque optimization & delivery for optimal driveability, performance & safety.

Responsibilities

  • Read & comprehend the high-level requirements related to the intended vehicle-level behavior.
  • Design the appropriate control algorithm that fulfills the functional objectives.
  • Implement high quality control algorithm in Matlab-Simulink, C, etc.
  • Provide best-guess calibration dataset.
  • Pre-verification of the implementation & check the requirement's compliance through Model In The Loop (MIL) testing.
  • Pre-verification of the generated code, through Software in the Loop (SIL) testing or specific tools able to monitor the consumption of ECU resources.
  • Prototype software generation.
  • Verification of official and prototype software in the HIL lab or in the vehicle, using system monitoring and verification tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyzer.
  • Analysis and response to the tracked issues.
  • Participate in technical meetings, perform data analysis & issue resolution.
  • Development of technical process documentation.
  • Collaborate and support calibration community.

  • Automotive Systems & Architectures fundamentals
  • Engine Torque management, stop start management controls strategies for conventional and hybrid applications
  • Robust Control technics
  • C and C++ code structure and markup
  • MathWorksmodeling andauto codesuite (Matlab, Simulink,Stateflow, Embedded Coder)
  • Autosar based software development tools - systemdesk
  • Excellent know-how of ETAS INCA tool
  • Usage of CANALYZER tool
  • Usage ofControl Deskand HIL tool
  • On Board Diagnostics (OBD) standards and architecture.
  • ISO / SAE standard norms for CAN / LIN communication
  • Ability to analyze and deployHigh- and Low-LevelRequirements documentation.
  • Ability to analyze issues and provide a resolution.
  • Experimental data analysis and calibrationmethodologydefinition.
  • Ability to perform verificationactivities.
  • Soft and Leadership skills :

  • Capability to work in a team and in an international environment
  • Capability of synthesis and reporting towards management
  • Availability to business trips (mainly UnitedStates of America)
  • Efficient communicational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • English : autonomous in listening (conference calls), reading & writing.

  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer engineering or automotive related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the following :
  • Engine Controls development in Matlab / Simulink auto-coding environment

  • Autosar based software development
  • Embedded C / C++
  • ECU & Vehicle Data Analysis Tool usage (INCA / CANalyzer)
  • Demonstrated technical problem solving
  • Strong overall knowledge of vehicle & powertrain functions.
  • Experience with controls modeling, simulation, development, validation & calibration
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with Engine Torque management functions for conventional and hybrid powertrains.
  • Demonstrated experience in decomposing intended functions into controls design.
  • Deep experience in creating MATLAB, SIMULINK, and AUTOSAR architecture tools.
  • Critical character traits to ensure success : action-oriented mindset, ability to deal with ambiguity, customer focus, and strong problem-solving skills
