Stronger Connections Grant Counselor (Grant Funded Postition)

Overview

We seek a dedicated and passionate school counselor to spearhead the creation and execution of a counseling program aimed at supporting students in their social, emotional, and academic growth. The position involves creating a more secure and nurturing learning atmosphere and implementing initiatives to address and combat instances of bullying, violence, and intolerance affecting both individual students and the broader school community.

Counselor Responsibilities

• Devising and executing programs and systems to ensure the ongoing fulfillment of students' mental and emotional needs.
• Attend to students' academic, social, emotional, and personal issues.
• Facilitate and enhance communication between students, parents, and educators to foster positive relationships.
• Provide students with support and guidance on how to deal with problems.
• Mediating and improving relationships between students, parents, and teachers.
• Arrange individual meetings and establish a schedule to meet with students and / or parents who require interventions, support, or the formation of support groups.
• Recognize, evaluate, and manage risky behaviors to prevent behavioral problems and potential threats.
• Enhance students' academic performance while nurturing their mental, behavioral, emotional, and physical wellness.
• Refer students to other support services and mental health professionals as needed.
