This position is located in Sherman Oaks, CA

Stevenson Law Office, P.C. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Probate Paralegal to join our Trusts and Estates team. This role is ideal for a proactive and highly organized individual who can manage a busy caseload and assist attorneys in all aspects of the probate and trust administration process. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of probate court procedures and is comfortable working directly with attorneys, clients, and court personnel. This is an in-office position.

We are a boutique Trusts and Estates law firm that designs, prepares and executes estate plans, handles probate and estate administration and litigation matters, transfers title to properties and other various private client services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive paralegal support for probate administration and trust litigation matters.
  • Draft and file legal documents, such as petitions, inventories, motions, orders, and accountings.
  • Manage cases from initiation to closing, ensuring all court requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Conduct legal research on issues related to probate, wills, trusts, and creditor claims.
  • Communicate directly with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and court personnel to manage expectations and provide updates.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating discovery.
  • Prepare and file state estate and gift tax returns.
  • Organize and maintain client files, correspondence, and estate documentation.
  • Assist with the collection, valuation, and distribution of a decedent's assets.

Qualifications

  • Experience : Minimum 3 years of experience as a paralegal in probate, trusts, or estate administration. 1-2 years of Litigation experience, if applicable. [Preferred]
  • Certifications : Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is required.
  • Knowledge : Significant substantive knowledge of probate procedures and relevant state laws. Familiarity with local court rules and procedures is essential.
  • Technical Skills : Proficient with legal case management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic filing systems.
  • Core Skills : Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
  • Work Ethic : A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
