Job Summary :
This position is responsible for performing radiologic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians and other licensed medical providers in diagnosing the disease and injuries of Oyate Health Center(OHC) patients.
Essential Functions :
- Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified area of the body requested by the physician.
- Moves imaging equipment into specified positions, and determines exposure factors based on height, weight, the portion of the body involved, and the degree of penetration required.
- Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
- Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
- Prepares images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
- Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, and arranges for repairs as needed.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Quality Assurance / Quality Control programs required of the Radiology program.
- Schedules appointment for patient examinations.
- Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining suppl;ies for the Radiology Department.
- Maintain effective, collaborative interdepartmental and external relations.
- Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Performs related duties.

Graduate of an Accredited Program of Radiologic Technology and one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist.Must have certification from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).Current BLS certification for health care providers.Must successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.Preferred experience on multiple modalities of diagnostic imaging.Must successfully pass a criminal and background check, and a pre-employment drug screen.The GPTLHB is a tribal organization which follows tribal preference laws.
