As a Sr. Data Scientist in our Customer Conversion team, you will join a team responsible for developing and maintaining ML / AI models and analytic tools that help CarMax customers navigate and complete their buying journey both efficiently and effectively, giving them the best possible experience. Our Data Scientists build sophisticated algorithms using best?in?industry data collected from millions of vehicles purchased and sold by CarMax and millions of consumers as they shopped. These algorithms enable value?driving acquisition strategies, personalized customer experiences, smarter operational strategies in our customer experience centers and stores, and sophisticated tooling to support both customers and associates throughout the car buying and selling experience.

What you will do Essential Responsibilities

• Leverage CarMaxs machine learning cloud environment to design, develop, & operationalize algorithms (e.g. statistical models, machine learning, artificial intelligence) that will directly impact critical areas of the CarMax business, including the customer experience
• Assess performance of production models and identify & act on opportunities for improvement
• Partner with teams across CarMax to explore new use cases for algorithms and bring new customer experiences to life
• Design tests and develop strategies to collect data needed to improve algorithm performance and produce iconic data?driven experiences for CarMax customers

Work Location and Arrangement

This role will be based out of the either the Richmond, VA Home Office, the Dallas, TX Technology Hub or the Atlanta, GA CarMax Auto Finance Office and has a Hybrid work arrangement in office 2 days a week.
