Revenue Accounting Manager
The Utah State Tax Commission is looking for a Revenue Accounting Manager to join our Finance Services team in the Tax and Revenue Division. As a Government Revenue Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations and revenue management of the Utah State Tax Commission. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with relevant regulations, and optimizing revenue generation. Your expertise will contribute to the financial stability and success of the organization, enabling it to fulfill its public service responsibilities effectively.
Principal Duties
- Financial Management : Develop and implement effective financial strategies to maximize revenue collection and ensure proper allocation and utilization of funds. Monitor financial performance, prepare reports, and provide analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Revenue Accounting : Manage all aspects of revenue accounting, including recording tax revenues. Ensure accurate recording and reporting of revenues, tracking various revenue streams, and maintaining financial records in compliance with governmental accounting standards.
- Compliance and Regulations : Stay up to date with relevant governmental regulations, policies, and guidelines pertaining to revenue management. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, statutory requirements, and internal controls. Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies during financial audits and inquiries.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to streamline revenue accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency. Implement best practices, develop standardized procedures, and leverage technology solutions to automate and optimize revenue accounting workflows.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor a team of revenue accountants, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, encouraging professional development and ensuring workloads are managed effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Collaborate with various departments, such as finance, budgeting, legal, and program management, to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and facilitate efficient revenue accounting operations. Act as a liaison between the revenue accounting team and other stakeholders.
- Risk Management : Identify and mitigate financial risks related to revenue recognition, and compliance. Develop internal controls, monitor financial processes, and implement corrective actions to minimize errors and irregularities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.Extensive experience in governmental accounting, revenue management, or a similar finance-related role.Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements.Proficiency in financial management systems and accounting software.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to manage and motivate a team.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.Ethical conduct, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality in handling financial information.Preferences
Preference will be given to those with :
