They work under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist. The CHHA performs and assists patients with various personal care services to meet personal needs and promote comfort. The CHHA is responsible for observing patients, reporting observations, and documenting care performed. Assignments are made to promote quality, continuity, and safety of patient care. The CHHA will not engage in activities viewed as the practice of nursing according to the state's Nurse Practice Act. This includes administering medications, taking physician's orders, or performing procedures requiring nurse-level training. Required skills include the ability to work with a diverse group of people to foster an environment for success. Maintaining knowledge of technology and equipment relevant to the role is essential. Adhering to infection control protocols minimizes the risk of spreading infections. Demonstrating initiative and being a self-starter is crucial for success.
