About This Opportunity

We are seeking an Energy Efficiency Engineer II who works directly with our clients to assess their operations and identify opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in commercial building systems. The Engineer II takes a consultative role, gathers data, creates optimization models of commercial systems, and writes feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects. The Engineer II contributes to peer support and quality control review.

What You Will Be Doing :

  • Lead projects and provide overall management, direction, and accountability on assigned projects.
  • Calculate energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and / or generally accepted methodologies.
  • Engage with clients at their commercial / buildings locations to fully understand their equipment and operations and identifying opportunities for energy efficiency.
  • Foster and grow client relationships and identify opportunities for generating additional work from current clients.
  • Discuss or explain complex technical issues with a diverse audience on their level in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus.
  • Compose energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations.
  • Document performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment.
  • Maintain solid understanding of utility programs and their compliance requirements.
  • Provide peer support through technical discussions and work review.

This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Greater Los Angeles area or Central Valley, CA.

This position requires approximately 20% -30% travel, most of which is local. Travel could be a half day trip to a site or to meet with a vendor, a full day to multiple sites, or an occasional overnight to a more distant area.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and relative experience
  • 2+ years of energy engineering experience
  • Technical knowledge of commercial systems, for example : controls, general HVAC, steam systems, chillers, cooling towers, lighting, custom computer modeling of systems, data analysis.
  • Experience in some / all of these areas :

  • Commercial Energy Efficiency
  • Strategic Energy Management (SEM)
  • Industrial Energy Efficiency
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders and serve their needs.

    The salary range for this position in Greater Los Angeles, CA Metro area is $85,140 - $106,480. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
