The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy steel fabrication, welding, forging, casting, and machining , with a strong background in supplier quality processes and audits.

Job Description :
Trilyon is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to manage supplier development, technical audits, and product quality assurance across heavy engineering and manufacturing operations. The Supplier Quality Engineer will lead supplier evaluations, monitor quality standards, and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance. This position requires approximately 40% travel to supplier sites across the U.S. and occasional international travel.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will work closely with design, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure supplier components meet required quality, functionality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct supplier evaluations, PCPA audits, and technical sign-offs to ensure supplier capability and readiness.
Implement APQP processes , review risk mitigation plans, and oversee design reviews.
Manage tooling and fixture readiness , including kick-offs, tracking, and validation (T0 T3 stages).
Evaluate part fitment reports , review corrective actions, and validate product compliance.
Approve fit, function, and engineering changes (ECN / FETE) prior to production release.
Support testing, validation, and safe launch activities for new product introductions.
Lead PSW (Part Submission Warrant) sign-off and ensure smooth SOP ramp-up.
Collaborate with suppliers on risk mitigation , technical issue resolution, and corrective actions.
Provide coaching and process improvement recommendations to suppliers for performance enhancement.
Conduct multi-stage inspections and audits at supplier sites for compliance verification.
Document and communicate findings, prepare reports, and track performance metrics.
Ensure alignment with material standards, AWS welding standards , and complex engineering print requirements.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive quality management throughout the supply chain.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (required).
8 10 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer in heavy engineering, automotive, locomotive, aerospace, or truck manufacturing industries.
Strong knowledge of forging, casting, machining, and material standards .
Hands-on expertise with heavy steel sheet metal fabrication and welding of large structures .
Familiarity with GDT, sheet metal design, and design-for-manufacturing principles .
Good understanding of AWS welding standards and ability to read complex engineering drawings.
Excellent project management and stakeholder communication skills.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred (nice to have).
Exposure to data-driven problem solving, root cause analysis, and supplier quality improvement methods .
Ability to travel up to 40% (domestic and occasional international).
Desirable Skills :
Experience with Supplier Quality Engineering in heavy machinery or industrial equipment environments.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Experience managing supplier performance improvement initiatives .
Knowledge of AI / ML applications in quality or manufacturing is an advantage.
