Staff Accountant

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Prepares and oversees the production of periodic balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements, as well as year-end closing process; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Reconciles multiple bank accounts monthly.
• Verifies and / or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Assists management in formulating and maintaining monthly / quarterly / annual budgets and forecasts.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments and cash flows.
• Works with external tax accountants and provides needed information for tax return preparation.
• Files required tax forms with state and local government agencies.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time and on short notice.

Required Skills / Abilities :

Knowledge of general financial accounting and tax accounting.

Demonstrated history of solving multiple complex operational and accounting challenges.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Excellent leadership skills with exceptional work ethic.

Must be flexible and a team player.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Proficiency in QuickBooks required, including multi-location and multi company financial reporting and expense allocation.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.

Three years or more of related experience required.

Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
