Description :
The unit features six "homelike" suites with private bathrooms where labor and delivery occur.
All patients who are unscheduled visits are seen in the OB Emergency Department, which is a four-bed unit.
The postpartum area includes eleven private rooms.
There are approximately 1050 births per year, along with 3000 OB ED and outpatient visits.
Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
In-house assist in NICU, with STABLE certification also valued.
FHM training is provided, although not required upfront.
Two years of experience in Labor and Delivery is preferred, with one year acceptable in Mother Baby.
The ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 1-2 in Labor and Delivery and 4 couplets in Mother Baby.
The FHM system utilized is Centricity, with Epic as the EMR system.
A charge nurse supervises each side 24 / 7 and manages assignments.
OB techs are available on the unit for circulation and recovery, with transfers to postpartum.
Every other weekend is required for staffing, and participation in holidays is expected.
Scrubs are provided for Labor and Delivery, with navy scrubs for the Mother Baby Unit.
Telemetry can be placed on the floor, monitored in a dedicated telemetry room.
There is a 24 / 7 neonatal support team available.
No IV team is present, but respiratory therapy and pharmacy services operate around the clock.
Shifts consist of twelve hours each, spanning day and night hours.
Cross coverage between units is expected, and one shift is provided for onboarding with a preceptor.
Common patient diagnoses include high-risk pregnancies, with a NICU for supportive care capability.
This facility is designated as Baby-Friendly and has earned recognition for advanced perinatal care.
Additional services include lactation consulting and a family-centered approach to care.
Cancellation policy allows for client cancellations of two shifts per 13-week assignment.
Charting is performed through the Epic systems.
