Schedule / Hours : This full-time position involves evening shifts (8 or 10 hours) with an on-call requirement, predominantly overnight and occasional weekend calls. On-call duties may vary according to staffing needs and will require arrival within 30 minutes when on call.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating area to facilitate optimal patient care. Utilize aseptic techniques to prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for surgeries.Stay updated with a variety of surgical procedures and functions as a Second Assistant as needed.Ensure the operating room is ready for each case by moving equipment and maintaining efficiency.Notify staff of equipment and supply issues, transport patients and supplies as necessary.Maintain specialty carts and check the working condition and sterility of equipment.Assist in patient positioning and performing lifts using proper techniques.Adapt care according to the age-specific needs of patients, demonstrating knowledge of growth and developmental principles.Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the AHA is required within 6 months.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.Experience Required :
No prior experience is necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Familiarity with aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer skills.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift various weights as specified, and perform key physical tasks.Exposed to bodily fluids, chemicals, and potential hazards; PPE is required.Ability to traverse the operating room, using various movement techniques.This job description reflects the essential functions and responsibilities of the role; additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
