Job description

Opportunity Resource Fund seeks a Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts, focusing on securing $2.5–$5 million annually from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This is a mid-level leadership role designed for a development professional with 5–7 years of experience who is ready to step into a larger leadership position. The Director will focus on cultivating and stewarding funders, leading grant writing, and strengthening Opp Fund's fundraising systems. The position will work closely with the President & CEO and Executive Leadership to expand Opp Fund's reach and ensure financial sustainability.

Position Summary : The Director of Development supports Opportunity Resource Fund's mission by ensuring all of OppFund's goals for fundraising and investor relationships are met. The Director of Development is responsible for cultivating and stewarding funders, leading grant writing, and strengthening Opp Fund's fundraising systems in a manner consistent with OppFund's mission. The position will work closely with the President & CEO and Executive Leadership to expand Opp Fund's reach and ensure financial sustainability.

Compensation & Benefits : $90,000 - $140,000 Full-time, Salary, Exempt

Company-paid training, health insurance (including vision and dental), and 403(b) account. Work / life balance with paid time off and generous paid holiday schedule.

Education : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Community Development, Urban Planning, Public Relations, or a related field is required . Master's degree is preferred.

Experience : Strong grant writing and proposal development skills, with experience managing a portfolio of funders. Familiarity with community development, affordable housing, or financial services; direct CDFI experience is highly desirable. Experience with federal grant opportunities (e.g., CDFI Fund) preferred; willingness to learn and grow in this area required. Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams. Minimum of five (5) years previous experience working in a nonprofit development or fundraising role with demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, and / or government agencies.

Other Requirements : Experience in developing and successfully implementing strategic fundraising and development plans. Demonstrates ability to build and foster relationships. Knowledge of the communities OppFund serves and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Demonstrates a high level of follow through, is detail oriented, thorough, inquisitive, confident, organized, and results driven. Technologically savvy with advanced computer skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PPT, Teams), database programs, Internet, and various cloud-based systems. First-Year Goals : Raise at least $2.5 million in unrestricted and programmatic grant funding through renewals and new funding. Submit 8–10 competitive proposals, including at least one federal or state-level application (with leadership support). Establish relationships with 3–5 new foundation or corporate funders. Develop a streamlined grants management and reporting system to improve efficiency and accountability. Develop and execute an investor strategy with a relationship model that includes 100% in person or virtual meeting with investor that have >

$50,000. Retention of 85% of institutional investors notes. Develop a robust stewardship program for existing funding partners.

Primary Work Location : Hybrid / Remote with regular onsite attendance in all OppFund offices as needed. Regular travel throughout Michigan is required.
