Chief of Staff – Family Office
Location : Remote (Preference for candidates based in Austin or Dallas–Fort Worth )
Travel : ~1 week per month, primarily to the southeastern U.S.
Family Office Overview
Our client is a multi-faceted family office overseeing a diversified platform of direct investments, operating companies, and philanthropic initiatives. The family office is actively involved in investment management, corporate oversight, and charitable endeavors, partnering closely with leadership teams across multiple entities. With principals based in Texas, the team meets in person on a recurring basis when not traveling to portfolio or investment locations.
Position Overview
The Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic advisor, integrator, and execution partner to the family office leadership. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring alignment, clarity, and operational excellence across investment, corporate, and philanthropic activities. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, project management discipline, and the ability to operate in a fast-moving and multi-entity environment.
The ideal candidate brings experience from a family office, private equity, investment management, or complex multi-entity organization, with the ability to seamlessly shift between high-level strategy and hands‑on execution. Candidates must be based in Austin or DFW due to the need for regular in-person collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnering : Work closely with principals and senior leadership to prioritize initiatives, drive executive alignment, and ensure clarity and execution across all entities.
- Operational Leadership : Build and refine processes, communication rhythms, and operating structures to increase efficiency across investment, corporate, and philanthropic organizations.
- Investment Support : Provide analytical, strategic, and coordination support to the direct investment arm, including diligence activities, deal evaluation, and portfolio monitoring.
- Cross-Entity Integration : Serve as the connective tissue between investment activities, operating companies, and nonprofit organizations—ensuring streamlined communication and consistent reporting.
- Stakeholder & Board Management : Prepare materials for board meetings, investment reviews, and stakeholder updates; maintain proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Project & Initiative Management : Lead high-priority initiatives from concept to execution, ensuring accountability, progress tracking, and measurable outcomes.
- Advisor & Thought Partner : Act as a sounding board to principals, anticipating needs, identifying priority issues, and providing proactive solutions and insights.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience in a family office, private equity firm, investment management, or multi-entity environment strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability to drive alignment, solve complex problems, and manage strategic initiatives across multiple stakeholders.Strong financial acumen and understanding of investment evaluation, portfolio reporting, and value‑creation principles.Exceptional communication, executive presence, and relationship‑building skills.Highly organized, agile, and capable of managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.Based in Austin or DFW and comfortable with monthly travel (primarily to the southeastern U.S.).Compensation & Logistics
