Electrical Designer – Industrial Automation Systems

Downers Grove, IL

$85,000 – $95,000 + Bonus

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Electrical Designer to join our team and support the design of control systems for automated industrial environments. In this role, you’ll work with engineers and clients to create safe, efficient, and compliant designs that help drive real-world automation projects forward.

What You’ll Do

Design electrical control schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD

Collaborate with engineers and customers on BOMs and project documentation

Manage job data and track progress in our ERP system

Ensure designs meet NEC, UL508A, and SCCR requirements

Provide design support during fabrication and installation

Update and finalize drawing sets based on team feedback

Help drive projects to on-time, on-budget completion

What We’re Looking For

Associate degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent technical certification

3+ years of industrial electrical design experience, including :

480VAC / 3P systems

IO systems, VFDs, motor starters, servo drives

Conduit and cable tray design

Panel layouts with safety / spacing standards

Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Excel

Experience with Allen-Bradley products (IO, VFDs, etc.)

Strong working knowledge of UL508A, NEC, and industrial power systems
