Job descriptionConduct comprehensive ophthalmic testing including visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, visual fields, and OCT imaging Perform advanced diagnostic testing such as external eye photography, slit-lamp evaluations, and motility assessments Document clinical findings in EHR (preferably ModMed or similar) Assist in preoperative assessments for eyelid surgery (e.g., ptosis, blepharoplasty) and orbital procedures Monitor and assist in managing patients with conditions like thyroid eye disease, eyelid malpositions, tearing disorders, dry eyes, etc. Prepare patients and surgical areas for in-office procedures and minor surgeries Assist during surgical procedures such as blepharoplasty, lesion removal, or reconstructive repair Perform post-op checks, suture removal, and wound care Provide pre- and post-operative instructions and patient education Ensure instruments and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and maintained Document clinical visits accurately and thoroughly Coordinate diagnostic testing and referrals with outside providers as needed Maintain surgical logs and support surgical scheduling and planning Participate in quality assurance initiatives and compliance with OSHA and HIPAA Current COMT certification through JCAHPO required Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in ophthalmology, preferably within an oculoplastics or facial aesthetics setting Proficiency in diagnostic equipment and imaging systems (e.g., OCT, VF, topography) Experience with EHR systems; familiarity with ModMed a plus Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with patients undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive procedures Professional, compassionate, and discreet with a strong focus on patient care Familiarity with cosmetic services (Botox, fillers, lasers) and aesthetic terminology Knowledge of facial anatomy and common oculofacial conditions Experience assisting in outpatient surgical centers or OR setting Tattoos must be covered, no face piercings or colored hair - must look professional

Position Summary :
The Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) plays a key role in delivering advanced diagnostic, technical, and patient care services in a high-end oculofacial plastic surgery practice. This position supports both the functional and aesthetic aspects of care, including assisting with ophthalmic evaluations, facial reconstructive procedures, and cosmetic treatments. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
