Aquatics Manager

The Aquatics Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations and programming within the Kroc Aquatics Center. This leadership role includes managing staff, developing and implementing aquatic programs, maintaining safety standards, coordinating facility maintenance, and handling budgeting and planning. The Manager will supervise a team including lifeguards, instructors, and attendants, ensuring all are properly trained and certified. Additionally, the role involves long-term strategic planning, staff development, and collaboration with other departments to support the Kroc Center's mission and goals.

This full-time position has a pay range of $50,000 - $55,000 / year and offers a generous benefits package that includes excellent health, dental, vision, and hearing insurance as well as paid time off that includes 15 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days per year (4 of which can be taken like vacation days), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and the ability to earn an additional 2 days of PTO through our wellness program. SUMMARY / PRIMARY PURPOSE :

The Aquatics Manager is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of all program development and ongoing operations related to the Kroc Aquatics Center.

• Responsible for the ongoing general operations, management, and administration of the aquatic center according to industry best practices, including supervision of a Coordinator, as well as Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Attendants. Serve as a lifeguard or swim instructor as needed.
• Manage the hiring and training of aquatic center staff in accordance with The Salvation Army and Kroc Center hiring / personnel guidelines. Ensure all aquatic center staff are properly and accurately trained and certified in the safe and proper delivery of aquatic activities, proper use of all aquatic equipment, measurement and logging of chemical readings and usage.
• Plan, direct, and guide the aquatic center staff in their development. Conduct evaluations of the aquatic center staff, making recommendations with regard to individual career path and commensurate goals and objectives.
• Develop and administer a program and execute existing programs for initial and ongoing training, meetings and in-services, special recognition, and certification requirements / opportunities for all aquatic center staff.
• Develop and implement aquatics-related programs including but not limited to swim lessons for all ages.
• Develop and manage the short- and long-range planning process for the aquatic center, including analysis of aquatic center trends, collaboration with the Marketing Department regarding promotional strategies, and establishment of goals and objectives consistent with the overall mission of the Kroc Center.
• Proactively ensure a safe environment throughout the aquatic center for all Kroc Center staff, volunteers, program participants, and users of the facility, and actively participate as a member of the facility's Safety Committee.
• Develop and administer the overall aquatic center budget, assuming a lead role in the financial development and ongoing fiscal management of the aquatic center, assisting the Director of Programs, as directed and / or needed.
• Coordinates maintenance and repair of all aquatic center equipment, systems, and components with the Facility Manager and outside vendors as needed.
• Maintain records and generate reports regarding programs and operations as required by state, Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters, and other governing bodies, ensuring timely submission and compliance.
• Purchase first aid supplies and serve as the lead instructor for internal and public CPR / AED / First Aid / Naloxone Administration trainings as well as Lifeguard training; provide other trainings as required.
• Serve as a member of the Kroc Manager on Duty (MOD) team, working MOD shifts as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's Degree in Sport / Recreation Management or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years of continuous experience in lifeguarding and swim lesson instruction in a group environment plus a minimum of 2 years of staff supervision experience.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS :

Current certifications from the American Red Cross in the following areas :

Lifeguarding and Waterpark Skills

Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) within 90 days of hire

Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) preferred

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred

Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification or the ability to obtain this certification within 120 days of hire is required.

Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.

Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.

The primary duties of this job take place in a busy public Aquatics Center. The noise level will be high. Temperatures will be above normal room temperature in a high-humidity environment. This position will have exposure to chemicals and fumes typically found in a pool environment, as well as exposure to bodily fluids and other potentially infectious materials.

For other duties of this job, such as outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.

This position requires the employee be available to work a flexible schedule that includes days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as required.
