Reports to : Beverage Director, Bar Manager, Floor Manager and General Manager
Position Summary
The Barback is the backbone of the Golden Steer bar program, ensuring bartenders have everything they need to deliver exceptional cocktails and hospitality. You’ll support the bar team by keeping stations stocked, clean, and organized while moving with urgency and precision in a high-volume environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, stamina, and a team-first attitude to help maintain the timeless steakhouse experience Golden Steer is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Stocking & Prep : Maintain full par levels of spirits, wine, beer, mixers, ice, and garnishes throughout service.
- Cleanliness & Organization : Keep bar stations, glassware, and storage areas polished, sanitized, and organized at all times.
- Support Service Flow : Anticipate bartender needs, replenish supplies quickly, and clear used glassware and tools efficiently.
- Bar Setup & Breakdown : Prepare bar stations before service and execute thorough closing procedures each night.
- Team Collaboration : Communicate clearly with bartenders and managers to ensure seamless bar operations.
- Hospitality & Professionalism : Assist bartenders in guest interactions when appropriate and represent Golden Steer with professionalism.

1+ years experience as a barback, busser, or similar support role in a high-volume restaurant or bar preferred.Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.Physical stamina to lift and move kegs, cases, and bar stock (up to 50 lbs).Basic knowledge of cocktails, beer, and wine a plus; willingness to learn required.NYC Food Protection Certificate or ATAP / TIPS certification preferred.English required; Spanish a plus.Operations & Compliance
Follow NYC DOH sanitation standards and responsible alcohol service laws.Execute safe handling of glassware, chemicals, and bar equipment.Teamwork & Culture
Show up prepared and proactive; stay engaged and dependable throughout the shift.Support training of new barbacks by modeling Golden Steer’s standards.Represent Golden Steer with professionalism and pride both behind the bar and on the floor.Physical & Scheduling Requirements
Stand and move quickly for 8–10 hours.Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (kegs, cases, and bar stock).Nights, weekends, and holidays required.Compensation & Benefits
