Associate Professor & Department Head for Nursing

East Texas A&M University, a member of Texas A&M University and a leading teaching and research institution, is seeking a progressive on campus leader with a passion for nursing education, innovation, and research. This position will serve as a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position, at the Associate Professor rank or higher, as well as, serve as Department Head for Nursing with one quarter time teaching responsibilities. Position is responsible for developing a productive and collaborative atmosphere, mentoring faculty, developing an effective shared governance system, working effectively with the college dean and senior administration, building excellence in curriculum and coursework scheduling in collaboration with the department faculty, maintaining a program of scholarly activities / research. In addition, the position is responsible for providing direction to and supervising the staff of the department. This position will begin Fall semester 2025.
The mission of the Nursing Department in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences subscribes to the mission of the University and the College of Education and Human Services. The Nursing Department facilitates the development of safe, competent practitioners with critical thinking skills to meet the diverse and evolving health care needs of individuals, families, groups, and communities. The BSN and MSN programs are approved by the Board of Nursing and fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE :
Leadership experience at the department head level. Higher education teaching and advising experience. Demonstrated experience with budgeting, curriculum / course design, and implementation; procuring external funding; and distance education. Evidence of effective interaction with students, faculty, administration, and community and active participation in professional organizations.
