Overview

Be among the first 25 applicants. CBS Atlanta is building a fresh take on news and seeks multiskilled Anchors to drive hyper-local journalism and community connection. The ideal candidates will communicate confidently and conversationally with interviewees and viewers. The MSJ Anchor will work with producers and directors to create dynamic newscasts in state-of-the-art full VR environments. Training is provided for new approaches. Top candidates will demonstrate ownership of stories from pitch to writing, shooting and editing, and will create entertaining and enterprise content aligned with station strategies.

Responsibilities

• Clearly and competently deliver breaking news coverage and dynamic newscasts, both unscripted and scripted in live and pre-recorded formats.
• Shoot and edit breaking news, day of air and special projects ensuring high-quality pictures and sound.
• Enterprise character-driven stories, break news and advance headlines.
• Establish and maintain relationships with sources in the community.
• Quickly gather and verify information, disseminating critical information for air.
• Write crisp, conversational copy that engages viewers.
• Interact with viewers / users on social media sites.
• Be a newsroom leader who models collaboration across the station.
• Perform other duties as assigned by editorial leadership.
