American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit requiring 2 years of L&D experience, active NC or compact RN license, and specialized certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a high-volume hospital Labor and Delivery unitHandles obstetrical patients 16 weeks or greater, high-risk antepartum and postpartum care, and under 16 weeks high-risk maternity casesAverage of 20 births in 24 hours with 30-40 admissions and 40 visits per day across 20 roomsSpecialized in scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures12-hour night shifts (18 : 45 - 07 : 15), three shifts per weekEvery other weekend required, with at least 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week periodNo on-call requiredFloating to Special Maternity Care unit for high-risk OB and potentially affiliate hospitals as neededUses Epic EMR, PYXIS, and SBAR communication toolsUnit orientation is 24 hoursScrubs provided in bluePerforms triage, routine outpatient procedures, antenatal fetal surveillance, IV hydration, medication administration, and emergency interventions as neededUnit is extremely fast-paced and high acuity; 48-hour per week contracts may not be realistic due to workloadFirst-time travelers are accepted if experienced in similar high-volume settingsTravelers may float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on census and skill setNo RTO permitted after booking; up to 7 days RTO may be approved if not during holidays, with 2 of 3 major holidays requiredMust not have been a permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee at specific health systems within the last 12 monthsLocal candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a different compensation rateTravel pairs allowed if working on different unitsTravelers cannot work more than 5 days in a row or exceed 60 hours in a weekAll modules and orientation must be completed prior to start\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN license required at start (pending accepted for consideration)Minimum 2 years Labor and Delivery RN experience required; 3 years preferredBCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications requiredMust have experience circulating in the OR, performing sterile vaginal exams, and competent in immediate newborn careExperience in high-volume or large hospital settings preferredEpic charting experience required or ability to quickly adaptMust be able to float without restriction based on unit needs\n Benefits\n
