Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager $100-$150K / YR

Summit Skilled Solutions is hiring a Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager for a shop position in Lynchburg, VA. This is a Direct Hire position day 1 with the contractor.

Role Overview :

Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager Primary Responsibilities :

Team Leadership : Build, mentor, and manage a team of Mechanical Engineers. Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and continuous training.

Cross-Department Collaboration : Coordinate with design, production, and other engineering teams to support product industrialization.

Project Oversight : Ensure mechanical designs meet engineering standards, customer requirements, and deadlines.

Technical Execution :

Design control panels using AutoCAD.

Create schematics for components like motors, sensors, and switches.

Select and integrate PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems.

Generate BOMs and support commissioning efforts (onsite and remote).

Liaise with vendors and resolve customer technical issues.

Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager Technical Requirements :

Proficiency in AutoCAD (including Electrical) and Inventor.

Experience with Rockwell and Siemens HMI / PLC systems.

Deep knowledge of UL and OSHA standards.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager Education & Experience :

Bachelors degree in Engineering.

10+ years engineering experience, including R&D.

5+ years managing engineering teams.

Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager Security Requirements :

Must qualify for a DOE security clearance (includes background, drug, and reference checks).

Mechanical Engineering and R&D Manager Compensation / Benefits :

$100,000-$150,000 / yr salary BOE
