Overnight ER / CC Veterinary Technician

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is a new, state-of-the-art facility that opened in May 2024an expansive, 100,000+ square foot space nearly twice the size of our original Tinton Falls location. This milestone marks the continuation of over 40 years of dedicated service to our community. Equipped with advanced diagnostics like MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and a PET scanner, the hospital features 52 exam rooms, 12 surgical suites, a dedicated emergency department, and expanded training spaces. Thoughtful amenitiesincluding feline-only waiting areas, a rehab unit, comfort rooms, and a serene zen gardenreflect our commitment to exceptional care for pets and their families.

We are seeking Overnight Emergency / Critical Care Veterinary Technicians who are personable, self-motivated, and strong communicators with excellent organizational skills. In this role, you will assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating closely with all departments across the hospital.

Position Overview :

The ER / CC Technicians primary responsibility is to triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels. Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients. Provides history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients. Works with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans and / or hospitalize the patient. Communicates medical updates, financial, and treatment plans to owners.

Compensation :
  • Full Time
  • Credentialed Technicians : $27- $31 / hr. based on experience

  • Non-Credentialed Technicians : $22- $25 / hr. based on experience
  • $$ SIGN ON BONUS $$
  • We are offering a $1000 SOB f or qualifying candidates!

    The final compensation offer will be based on the qualified candidates experience and ability to make an impact coming into the role.

    Anticipated Schedule :

  • Full Time
  • Wednesday - Saturday

    10pm-8am

  • Sunday - Wednesday
  • 10pm- 8am

    Key Responsibilities :

    Patient Care & Nursing Skills

  • Basic husbandry and care for domestic and exotic patients
  • Monitor patient status : vitals, mentation, pain score
  • Nursing procedures : phlebotomy, IVC / IVF therapy, cystocentesis, urinary catheter care, medication administration (oral, topical, injectable), restraint, in- and out-patient care, abdominocentesis / thoracocentesis / pericardiocentesis, oxygen cage operation, transfusion therapy, PICC line care, recumbent patient care, feeding and sampling line care
  • Triage, sedation / anesthesia monitoring, recognize CPA & initiate CPR
  • Medical Knowledge

  • Disease processes and disinfection protocols
  • Basic anatomy, physiology, pharmacology (Cubex use, common medications)
  • Medical math, lab skills (basic bloodwork, lab submissions), radiograph positioning, medical terminology
  • Technical & Administrative Skills

  • Record keeping, equipment operation, stocking and cleaning, aftercare
  • Knowledge and adherence to hospital policies
  • Professionalism

  • Communication skills, appropriate uniforms, professional appearance
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements :

  • Three years of experience working as a nursing team member in a veterinary hospital is required.
  • One year+ of experience working as an ER / ECC technician
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT / CVT / RVT)
  • Prior experience working in an Emergency Hospital as an ER / ECC technician overnight
