Job Description

5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is a growing defense contractor headquartered in Round Rock, TX with over twenty years' experience providing systems and software engineering for Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Systems Engineering Technical Support to Government Program Offices.

5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is seeking a highly motivated candidate in support of design and analysis of turbomachinery power generation components, and electrical power and communications subsystems of unmanned air vehicle propulsion systems. This candidate will work with engineering, industry primes, and DoD customers to successfully research, develop, test, and document component and hardware improvement, performance testing, and advanced engineering problem-solving activities for multiple programs and applications.

Key responsibilities of the Electrical Systems Engineer position include, but are not limited to :

• Technical leadership across all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Designing new ways to improve turbine-generated electrical power to develop or improve electronic components, software, engine accessories, and turbine engine-powered systems.
• Analyzing customer air vehicle electrical system requirements, capacity, power budgets, component cost, and project needs to support project planning / management and systems engineering functions.
• Performing detailed calculations to compute design, manufacturing, testing, and installation specifications.
• Overseeing third-party design, assembly, and testing to ensure the product as built meets the requirements.
• Developing validation and acceptance testing procedures for electronic equipment and define operation and maintainability concepts.
• Inspecting electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet standards and requirements.
• Evaluating systems, troubleshoot and recommend repair and / or design modifications.
• Planning and developing applications and modifications for electronic properties used in parts and systems to improve technical performance.
• Creating and delivering technical presentations for design reviews and system engineering technical reviews (SRR / PDR / CDR) both internally and to external customers.
• Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
