Advanced Practice Provider (NP / PA) - Joints Access

Position Description :

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Divison of Total Joints, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW / FMLH / CHW policies and procedures. This position is located at our Springdale and Mequon Clinics.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients in the Orthopaedic Surgery Total Joint Program. Provides outpatient care as well as assistants in the OR and attends In-patient rounding as required.

In this role you will be responsible for the following :

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care team as needed in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with orthopaedic health conditions.
• Documents accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and admission and transfer orders.
• Order, perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests and appropriately communicate and document information.
• Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
• Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including CMS, and the Joint Commission.
• Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients being treated in the Total Joint Program through participation in the development of quality indicators.
• Acquires information and best practices on the most current development and trends in the NP / PA field through educational programs, in-services, conferences, literature and professional associations.

Work Schedule : 1.0 FTE role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.
