The position is based in Pierre and the starting pay is $29.12 - $32.35 plus generous vacation leave, medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.

DSS is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in the role as an Accountant I or II. This role provides the opportunity to gain government accounting experience, build competence, develop analytical skills, and begin a long-term career with the State. The State offers accounting opportunities at this level that begin to build solid knowledge of procedures, policies, laws and regulations and how they apply to the various State functions / audit entities while operating in a team oriented environment.

Responsibilities :

• assist in the year-end accrual process;
• complete the preparation cash management reports;
• track and monitor expenditures including providing statistical information and analysis;
• review payments and financial documents;
• drawdown of Federal Funds;
• help test and learn the new ERP accounting system from the ground floor.
