IIA is seeking a skilled Industrial CT Technician to join our Danville, VA facility.
Our testing lab in Danville, located at the Center of Excellence (AM COE), provides on-site qualification and component testing to validate the quality of additive manufactured parts for submarines. IIA is part of a team of industrial partners, industry experts and government entities working together to support the AM COE in its efforts to accelerate and scale defense manufacturing.
Position Summary
The Industrial CT Technician supports advanced projects for U.S. Navy Additive Manufacturing Projects, using cutting-edge computed tomography (CT) systems for non-destructive testing and dimensional analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a Northstar Imaging X7000 RobotiX 450kV and 225kV Computed Tomography System and associated software.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) using CT and radiographic techniques to inspect internal and external features of manufactured components.
- Capture part geometries and edit point cloud data to ensure optimal scan quality.
- Utilize software tools such as Northstar Imaging efX suite, Windows OS, Volume Graphics, SolidWorks, and DICONDE-compliant systems for image processing and reporting.
- Stay current with NAVSEA, DoD specifications, and industry standards for CT and radiographic inspection.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal teams and external clients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and “tour-ready” lab environment.
Qualifications
Required : U.S. Citizenship required.Education : High School diploma or equivalentExperience & Skills :Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating industrial CT scanners and X-ray machines.
NDT certifications in CT or radiography.Proficiency in CAD software, especially SolidWorks, including surface modeling and 3D animations.Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint reading.Knowledge of and ability to work with DICONDE data protocols and network requirements.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to make independent decisions and explain rationale to internal and external teams.Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).PreferredFamiliar with Additive Manufacturing, Machining, or similar production environments.
