Job Description
This position will work with Supervisor to ensure projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with all regulations and ordinances, working with either contractual or in-house staff. Position will report to Supervisor at Twin Lakes Park.
Perform advanced finish carpentry including, but not limited to, framing walls, installation of doors, cabinets, hardware and fencing. Planning, layout and construction of assets to include, but not limited to, two pole shelters, picnic pavilions, small buildings, boardwalks, pedestrian bridges and kiosks. Limited building and other demolition.
Operates the CNC machine to produce communications approved signs. Must be able to utilize software to design and reproduce unique historic parts and fabricate broken or missing components that have become difficult to acquire.
Responsible for the restoration of detailed finish carpentry on historic buildings and sites which will involve matching the right lumber species, paint, and coatings.
Concrete planning, layout and formation to include, but not limited to, footers, foundations, floors and sidewalks.
Plan for, layout, repair and replace playground equipment and associated walks and surface material.
Records and compiles data, including materials management and life cycle planning, using manual or computerized devices in order to create and complete work orders and maintenance records. Manages multiple work orders at the same time, ensures completion in a timely fashion. General knowledge of the Maximo work management system.
Plan and apply for building permits, right of way use permits and inspections. Follow through on permitting process. Basic knowledge of GIS as it relates to site plans required for permitting. Plan and call for utility locates.
Work together with contractors to ensure timely completion of work. Communicate with contractors on issues and monitor for code compliance.
Work Hours : 6 : 00 a.m. 2 : 30 p.m. Monday Friday
About You
Minimum Qualifications : A High School Diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of experience, education, training or any combination with concrete and / or carpentry experience. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.
Job Competencies :
Knowledge of building construction trades, methods, codes, regulatory requirements (ex : DEP issues relating to coastal and inland requirements), practices, tools and equipment : knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Proficient in the use of tools, equipment and materials. (ex : table saw, drill press, router).
Experience in the operation of a CNC machine and the required operating software.
Ability to read and follow diagrams, blueprints, plans and written instructions.
Ability to work in construction areas and around heavy equipment.
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Knowledge of ADA requirements as they relate to public facilities and parks.
Forklift operator experience.
Physical Demands : Must occasionally lift and / or move more than 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening : This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Pay : $18.66 (Step 1)
